About Our Team

The Insurance Institute is the premier source of professional education and career development for the country’s property and casualty insurance industry. Established in 1899, the Institute is a not-for-profit organization serving more than 40,000 members across Canada through 19 volunteer-driven provincial institutes and chapters. Over 20,000 of those members are students and more than 18,000 are graduates who have earned the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation. We are a founding member of the Institute for Global Insurance Education (IGIE).

Career Connections is a career awareness program aimed at encouraging young adults and career seekers to pursue one of the many skilled professions available in the insurance industry. To help promote insurance as a stable and vital industry, we also work to enhance the understanding of insurance and explain its role in society.

Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is the national industry association representing Canada’s private home, auto and business insurers. Our member companies represent the vast majority of the property and casualty (P&C) insurance market in Canada. Since 1964, we have been championing issues that directly affect Canadians and the property and casualty insurance industry.

The Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) is a world-class centre for disaster prevention research and communication. Established by Canada’s property and casualty (p&c) insurance industry in 1998 as an independent, not-for-profit research institute. Their focus is on building resilient communities through their research and reducing loss of life & property caused by severe weather and earthquakes.
