Foundations of Science

In this course, students will explore selected themes from foundational grade 8 science curricula in every Canadian province as they engage with educational resources from Let’s Talk Science.

This course includes cells and systems, fluids and water science, optics, and mechanical systems and forces. This course explores the microscopic world of plant and animal life systems, the physics of fluids and earth sciences, the invisible forces of optics, and the fundamental laws governing motion and forces.

This course created in partnership with Let’s Talk Science offers a comprehensive, hands-on exploration of the microscopic world of matter and the chemical transformations that shape our physical environment.

Students will transition from foundational atomic theory to the practical mechanics of chemical reactions as they investigate how organisms grow, repair, and reproduce among the delicate ecological balances that sustain life on Earth. Expanding their scope from Earth to the stars, students will also investigate how energy powers modern society and drives deep-space exploration.
